A maritime employee has shared insights into the actual experience aboard a cruise ship, indicating that it's not solely about 'luxury and elegance'.
Cass Stefanie, who documents her life and journeys on herTikTokprofile (@cass_stefanie) has recently shared a video captured inside her cabin.
The video, which has garnered 1.9 million views, began with the content creator discussing the highs and lows of her job.
"It's not just about the sparkle and luxury when you start working on a cruise ship. Indeed, the pay is good. From a financial perspective, it's enjoyable. However, there are many compromises you have to endure," Cass says.
She moves the camera to reveal her cabin, which includes bunk beds, a desk, and wardrobes.
"It's my third day here, I'll demonstrate the situation I'm facing," Cass adds.
Firstly, the cabin is very cramped, so I've had to pile suitcases here because I brought a lot of things for living here over six months.
Regarding her sleeping setup, Cass mentions she is on the upper bunk and is waiting for fresh bedding to be prepared.

I have the top bunk," she says. "First of all, I only have one curtain, the other half is missing.
I don't own a duvet, just a sheet, so I get cold at night. I've even used t-shirts as pillow covers because whenever I go to the linen room, they say, 'come back at three, we don't have duvets yet. Come back at three and we'll give you the pillowcases – we don't have any more at the moment.'
The ship employee shares her experiences on adapting to the new way of living.
"I've been adapting quite swiftly, I simply wanted to reveal the genuine aspect of being part of the crew," Cass says.
The area is quite compact, you only have one cabinet to work with.
Cass further urges others to think about the practical elements of cruise life, along with its enjoyable aspects.
"Ask yourself before applying to work on a cruise ship, is this truly something you can manage? Are you ready to cope with it? Are you prepared to make sacrifices in order to achieve financial success?" she says.
"If you're ready to endure the challenges, without negativity or grumbling, then give it a try," Cass encourages.

She mentions that the salary is satisfactory, although cruise employees are required to work extended hours.
"It's financially rewarding. You put in long hours, working every single day. You don't get weekends, and that's the price we pay. You're separated from family and friends. It's challenging," Cass adds.
She encourages people to "consider it thoroughly" before choosing to embark on a cruise and explore the globe.
Cass admits, 'you do get to visit various locations' but mentions it can be difficult, 'during certain periods of your contract'.
