Husband Charged with Murder After Wife Vanishes in Northern California

(FOX40.COM) — The spouse of Nikki Cheng Saelee McCain, a woman with four children who disappeared under questionable conditions in 2024, was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with her alleged killing.

On May 22, 2024, Nikki Cheng Saelee McCain was reported missing by her family. The initial report was submitted to the Redding Police Department. Nevertheless, two days later, the case was moved to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office as Saelee McCain was last spotted in that region.

A mother of four from Northern California remains missing after several months, vanishing while allegations of abuse were being investigated.

As per the sheriff's office, Saelee McCain was last spotted at 17277 Olinda Road in Anderson on May 18, 2024, where she lived with her husband, Tyler Scott McCain. Due to this, SCSO detectives executed a search warrant at their home and collected multiple items as potential evidence.

On May 25, 2024, a motorist discovered Saelee McCains's vehicle, a Chevy Avalanche, off Highway 36 close to Beegum Gorge Bridge. This location is situated near the boundary of Shasta and Tehama Counties, close to Platina. According to the SCSO, they uncovered physical evidence suggesting improper actions. Nevertheless, Saelee McCain was not located.

From the beginning of this investigation, detectives have been working hard to find Nikki and to figure out what happened before she went missing," SCSO stated. "Detectives have issued many search warrants, carried out multiple searches, and spoken with family members, friends, and people who knew Nikki, but they have not been able to find her.

The sheriff's office stated, "Considering the evidence collected, details obtained from interviews, and the fact that none of Nikki's family members have been in contact with Nikki since her disappearance,"Investigators have concluded that she was a victim of murder..”

The SCSO believes that Nikki's husband, Tyler Scott McCain, is linked to her death and disappearance. He was taken into custody on Wednesday and admitted to the Shasta County Jail without bond.

The case is still being looked into. SCSO mentioned that a reward of up to $30,000 is still available for any information that helps locate Saelee McCain.
