Characters have arrived and departed in theMarvel Cinematic UniverseSince the debut of the franchise's first movie, the film series (which eventually grew to include television shows as well) is set within one of the most expansive, affluent, and extravagantly conceived shared universes ever seen on screen. It's therefore not surprising that some characters appear sporadically while others remain absent for extended periods before reappearing.
However, the Multiverse Saga pushed this to an extreme. With the MCU expanding into both film and television, the time between characters' appearances became longer than ever before. Additionally, there were numerous new characters introduced who received mixed reactions from fans (or appeared in projects that were not well-received). Various rumors and reports have suggested that some of these characters have had their returns "canceled," while others think it's just a matter of time before they return.
One character who faced significant challenges following their MCU debut may have had the right perspective all along.
Tatiana Maslany is expected to be featured in Avengers: Doomsday as She-Hulk
As per veteran Marvel insider Alex Perez, Tatiana Maslany will rejoin the MCU as Jennifer Walters, also known as She-Hulk inAvengers: Doomsdaynext year. In conversing with fans through his monthly Q&A (via The Cosmic Circus), Perez responded to a query regarding additional significant cast members we might anticipate.which already includes 25+ prominent Marvel characters), he mentioned that well-known MCU heroes and Avengers are probable choices, listing Maslany's character, along with figures such as Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, Charlize Theron's Clea, Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
It goes without saying, the mention of She-Hulk is significant. Maslany has only one appearance in the MCU so far, and it's a notable one, as she starred inDisney Plus dramedy She-Hulk: Attorney At LawThe show garnered mostly favorable reviews, although some critiques highlighted its unreliable computer-generated imagery in certain scenes and the underwhelming depiction of the Hulk. Over time, audience reactions have been divided, with many considering it one of the more aimless installments of the Multiverse Saga, especially given the absence of a sequel three years later.
Regarding the lack of follow-up, the show was believed to have been quietly canceled. Although there was never any official announcement,Maslany questioned whether a second season would ever take place.Last year, they mentioned the show's substantial budget as a possible explanation. Given that the series was essentially a comedy but with an unusually large budget, it probably needed to create more excitement than it actually did.

Even though, there was much appeal inShe-Hulk, which made any speculated cancellation even more disappointing. However, taking into account that Disney and Marvel Studios changed their approach to releasing content following several unsuccessful attempts (which reportedly involved avoiding shows that were considered too risky and focusing on transforming some popular limited series into ongoing television programs), the situation unfortunately appeared to be heading toward an end for the show. The question remained what this meant for the character.
Although some previous reports stated that Marvel intended to move away from the She-Hulk character, with one person even stating that she had "no future" in the franchise), several insiders have recently indicated that Jennifer Walters might return at some point.Avengers: Doomsdaybecame a possibility once someleaked concept drawings for the film(or a prior version of it, at the very least) included Maslany's Jade Giantess. But would Marvel actually bring it to life? It appears that it might still be under consideration. And that's a positive development.
She-Hulkdeserved more from its first season and that is especially true for the main character. With that in mind, it would be wonderful to see her participate in eitherAvengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Warsin some way. After all, if one of the goals of these films is to signify the end of the Multiverse Saga by highlighting some of the most significant new characters it introduced to the franchise, it's clear that She-Hulk should be among the main attractions.
Avengers: DoomsdayPremieres in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
