First Lady Melania Trump is considering legal action against former first son Hunter Biden, seeking $1 billion in damages, as she alleges he has disseminated "false, defamatory, derogatory, and provocative" statements, according to a recently released report.
Her legal representatives claim that Biden's statement—that she met former President Donald Trump through the late financier and convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—is completely false and harmful.
On Wednesday, August 13, Melania Trump's legal representative sent a strong demand letter to the 55-year-old Biden and his attorney, urging him to immediately withdraw statements connecting her introduction to the president with Epstein.
The correspondence, initially acquired by Fox News, cautions that non-compliance will leave Mrs. Trump with "no option but to seek all legal rights and remedies she has available to recover the significant financial and reputational damage you have inflicted upon her."
The debate started when Biden echoed statements first put forward by author Michael Wolff, who mentioned on a podcast that both Epstein and Donald Trump were connected to a "model agent" who brought Melania to the future president.
Melania Trump's legal team quickly dismissed the report, labeling it an unfounded rumor aimed at generating publicity for Biden.
"Considering your extensive history of trading on the names of others — including your last name — for your own gain, it's clear that you spread these false and defamatory remarks about Mrs. Trump to gain attention," stated Florida attorney Alejandro Brito in a letter dated Wednesday, August 6, as reported by Fox News.
Hunter Biden and his attorneys have not yet made a public response to the request.
