First Lady Melania Trump is considering legal action against former first son Hunter Biden, seeking $1 billion in damages, as she alleges he has disseminated "false, defamatory, disrespectful, and provocative" statements, according to a recently released report.
Her legal representatives claim that Biden's statement — which asserts she was introduced to former President Donald Trump by the late financial figure and convicted child sexual abuse offender Jeffrey Epstein — is completely false and harmful.
On Wednesday, August 13, Melania Trump's legal representative sent a strong letter to the 55-year-old Biden and his attorney, urging him to immediately withdraw statements connecting her introduction to the president with Epstein.
The message, initially acquired by Fox News, cautions that non-compliance will leave Mrs. Trump "with no option but to seek all legal rights and remedies possible to recover the significant financial and reputational damage you have inflicted upon her."
The debate started when Biden echoed statements first put forward by author Michael Wolff, who mentioned on a podcast that both Epstein and Donald Trump were connected to a "model agent" who introduced Melania to the man who would become president.
Melania Trump's legal team quickly dismissed the report, labeling it an unfounded rumor intended to spotlight Biden.
"Considering your long history of trading on the names of others — including your last name — for your own gain, it's clear that you spread these false and harmful statements about Mrs. Trump to get attention," wrote Florida attorney Alejandro Brito in a letter dated Wednesday, August 6, as reported by Fox News.
Hunter Biden and his attorneys have not yet issued a public response to the request.
