Muscatine Voters and Candidates Gear Up for November Election

Residents of Muscatine will vote for a mayor and three city council representatives in the local election taking place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Positions on the ballot are: Mayor (two-year term), Second Ward Council Representative (four-year term), Fourth Ward Council Representative (four-year term), and one At-Large Council Representative (four-year term).

Nomination forms can be obtained from the Muscatine County Auditor's Office or the Iowa Secretary of State's office.websiteThe application period begins on August 25, 2025, and ends at 5 p.m. on September 18, 2025. Each candidate needs to gather a minimum of 25 signatures from qualified voters—Ward positions require signatures from individuals living in that specific Ward, whereas citywide positions demand signatures from residents throughout Muscatine.

City council members are required to be residents of the City of Muscatine and must keep their main home within the Ward they are elected to represent when they submit their nomination papers, during the election, and for the entire duration of their term.

The following details are provided for qualified residents wishing to appear on the ballot for one of the four positions:

·Petitions and affidavits for nomination can be obtained from theMuscatine County Auditor’s office or the Iowa Secretary of State website.

The initial day to submit nomination documents is Monday, August 25, 2025, and the final date to submit these documents is Thursday, September 18, 2025, by 5 p.m. Only the Muscatine County Auditor’s office is authorized to accept nominations.

At least 25 valid voters' signatures are needed for each position. For roles specific to a Ward, the signers must live in the corresponding Ward. For the At-Large position and for the mayor, the signers must be residents of the entire city.
