Vanilla Ice Cream Recalled Over Serious Health Risk

Scores of pints of vanilla ice cream have beenrecalleddue to an unlisted allergen that can pose a severe threat to certain consumers.

Mount Vernon, New York-A Vanilla G.Nutt ice cream flavor from an ice cream factory was withdrawn on Tuesday due to the possibility of containing almonds that were not indicated on the packaging.

'Individuals with an allergy or strong sensitivity to tree nuts may experience severe or potentially fatal allergic reactions upon consuming these items,' states anoticefrom the government body tasked with safeguarding the publichealth.

The company has withdrawn 40 pints, eight quarts, and three half-gallon containers of the ice cream product. The pints and gallons came in plastic packaging, whereas the quarts were packaged in white paper.

All the products impacted are marked with an expiry date of March 2027.

The UPC code for the pint is 8 56781 00361 3, for the quart it is 8 56781 00362 0, and for the half gallon it is 8 56781 00363 7.

Items that were recalled were sent to Golden Krust outlets in Mount Vernon and White Plains, as well as to Farm County Supermarket located in the Queens area of New York City.

A study on the matter revealed that the incident was caused by a temporary failure in the company's manufacturing and packaging processes.

The company has not been informed of any cases where consumers became ill after consuming the vanilla ice cream.

Customers are encouraged to return the ice cream for a complete refund or swap it for a different flavor. Individuals with inquiries are advised to contact Ice Cream Factory.

It occurred less than a month following Friendly’s Ice Creamreminded 324 cartons of its Cookies & Cream flavorBecause of an unlisted allergen, soy. The ice cream was incorrectly placed in the brand's Vanilla Bean containers, featuring a Cookies & Cream lid.

Shortly before that, theUSFood and Drug Administration (FDA) enhanced arecollection of over 110,000 instances of Rich Ice Cream Co ice cream barsa Class II level warning of 'temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects' due to potential listeria contamination.
